Do you need a peel?
Have you started seeing fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes and mouth? Maybe your skin is confused – dry, oily and/or acneic at the same time. Have the dark spots you see on the faces of others started showing up on yours too? These are just a few things that can be addressed and corrected with a chemical peel.
Here are other benefits of having a chemical peel:
- Improved skin texture making it softer and smoother
- Increased the cell turnover rate of your skin
- Improve your skin’s ability to hold moisture
- Help your skin produce more collagen
- Decrease hyperpigmentation and discoloration giving it a more even tone
- Unclog pores which will make your pores look smaller
- Improve minor scarring
What happens during a Chemical Peel?
Glow Beauty Bar estheticians use the PCA Skin line of chemical peels. After cleansing and “degreasing” your skin, an esthetician will select a corrective peel that specifically meets your skin care goals – for the reduction of acne, discoloration, lines and wrinkles, brightening, smoother texture, or for the overall re-conditioning of your skin.
Your esthetician will then apply the maximum number of layers or “coats” based on your skin’s resiliency (the ability to handle the peel) for the most dramatic effect possible. Because some have more resilient skin than others, a series of peels may be required. The number of series required is based on the level of the skin conditions you have – mild, moderate, or severe.
During the procedure you may feel warmth, tingly, strong heat, or itchy sensations. These symptoms do dissipate as the Chemical Peel self neutralizes. Your esthetician will assess your comfort level throughout the treatment and apply a fan if necessary.
What happens after a Chemical Peel?
Your skin will feel tight and dry. Post-Procedure Chemical Peel Kits contain all the after care products to help alleviate this sensation and boost your results. About 3 – 5 days after the peel you may begin to exfoliate. Some people do not exfoliate at all depending on the depth and strength of the peel you receive. You must stay out of the sun for up to two weeks and use a good SPF (contained in the Post-Procedure Chemical Peel Kit) during this time.
When will I see results?
Most will see results in 10 days up to three weeks.
